AVI Foodsystems is a family-owned contract foodservice and hospitality company founded in 1960 (originally 'Automatic Vendors') by John Payiavlas and headquartered in Warren, Ohio; it is run today by his son Anthony J. Payiavlas (President/CEO). It is one of the largest independently owned foodservice companies in the US, providing on-site dining/cafes, vending, micro markets, full-service catering, event concessions, office coffee, healthcare patient dining and environmental services across roughly 94 branches in 49 states and Canada. Reported annual revenue is most consistently cited around $860M (estimates range widely, $500M-$1.5B), with a workforce in the 5,000-10,000+ band. Critically for AGD: this is a labor-based SERVICE operator running distributed client cafeterias and vending fleets, NOT a manufacturer with production lines, assembly, or fragile-part handling. There is no factory footprint, no rigid insertion/assembly work, and no observed robotics-manipulation program. Its 'automation' is retail/dispensing technology (advanced vending and Market C micro markets), which is out of scope for AGD's contact-rich dexterous manipulation wedge. Net: a poor structural fit for AGD's platform.
