Bayer AG is a diversified German life-sciences conglomerate headquartered in Leverkusen, organized into three divisions: Pharmaceuticals, Crop Science (agriculture/seeds), and Consumer Health. Group sales were roughly 45.6 billion euros in 2025, with Crop Science and Pharmaceuticals the two largest segments and Consumer Health navigating a tougher market. The company is the relevant target for AGD across two distinct contact-rich threads: aseptic fill-finish / drug-delivery-device assembly in Pharma (it makes injectables such as the Eylea pre-filled glass syringe and the OcuClick dosing device), and high-throughput seed science in Crop Science (proprietary seed chipping for genomic selection). Net income was negative in 2025, dominated by glyphosate/Roundup litigation provisions, which constrains discretionary capex even as the company publicly pursues 'lights-out' factory automation. It already runs significant automation (automated intralogistics at the Solida 1 tablet plant, automated greenhouses and seed centers), but those programs are largely transport/throughput-oriented rather than dexterous.
