Flying Food Group
Flying Food Group (FFG) is a Chicago-based, privately held food production company founded in 1983 by Sue Ling Gin, with all profits ultimately benefiting the Sue Gin Charitable Foundation. It runs two core lines of business: in-flight airline catering and a 'Fresh Food Solutions' retail/foodservice unit. In catering it operates a network of roughly 17-19 production kitchens spanning Hawaii to New York (plus a Shanghai flight kitchen), supplying custom meals and snacks to many airline customers; it has been named Americas 'Airline Caterer of the Year' (Pax International). Its Fresh Food Solutions unit supplies prepared snacks, salads, sandwiches, desserts and meals to foodservice companies and specialty retailers such as HMS Host, Aramark and Starbucks. Operations are labor-intensive, high-mix, and deadline-driven, with frequent menu changes and fluctuating volumes.
