John Deere

Deere & Company (John Deere) is one of the world's largest manufacturers of agricultural, turf, construction, and forestry equipment, with FY2025 revenue of roughly $45.7B and a workforce on the order of tens of thousands. Its manufacturing is heavy off-highway vehicle assembly: large tractors (7/8/9 Series) at Waterloo Works in Iowa, combines/harvesters at East Moline, and loaders, motor graders, articulated dump trucks, skidders and feller bunchers at Davenport Works. Production is high-mix, low-volume, large-format steel fabrication and assembly involving in-house welding, machining of tight-tolerance axles/frames, robotic painting, drivetrain integration, and extensive electrical/hydraulic system buildout. Deere is simultaneously a heavy aggressive investor in product-side autonomy (autonomous 8R/9RX tractors, Blue River See & Spray, GUSS autonomous sprayers) and in Industry 4.0 factory technology (5G, digital twins, smart fastening, robotic welding). For AGD purposes the relevant surface is its factory assembly operations, which most resemble automotive/heavy-vehicle manufacturing.
